Ernest "Ernie" Gibbs
Ernest "Ernie" W. Gibbs, 70, Rayville, Mo., passed away, Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City.
Mr. Gibbs was born on August 24,1941 in Altamont, Mo., the son of Clifton Williby and Clara Josphine (Maupin) Gibbs. Ernie married Sandra (Brown) Gibbs on April 15, 1962 in Altamont, Mo. Sandra survives of the home. Mr. Gibbs was a farmer, worked for the Standard Oil Company for 20 years, the Kansas City Star for 40 years and started Ernie's Heating and Cooling. Mr. Gibbs was a member of the Kawanis Club in Liberty, a member of the Altamont Christian Church and he attended the Siloam Spring Baptist Chapel in Excelsior Springs.
In addition to his wife, Sandra, Ernie is survived by one son, Jerry Dean Gibbs of Louisburg, Kans.; one daughter, Sally Ann Hayson of Richmond, Mo; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild and another on the way. Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by two daughters, Julie Gail Braughton and Connie Sue Gibbs.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Ayr Cemetery in Altamont, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Ayr Cemetery or the Siloam Spring Baptist Chapel in Excelsior Springs.
So sorry to hear of his passing. Anytime I hear the name "Ernie" I remember the Sunday Evenings. It was always MYF, Movie, and sandwiches before 10pm curfew. He was best "man" at my wedding and I always called him one of my best friends.
