Francis Niemeyer
Francis John Niemeyer, 83, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. Born May 11, 1927 in Denmark, Iowa, he was the son of William and Elizabeth (Menke) Niemeyer. On October 29, 1955 in Kansas City, Mo., he was married to Evelyn Esther Henry, who preceded him in death March 17, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wilfred and Joseph Niemeyer, and a sister, Lucille Niemeyer. Surviving are his four children, Mark Niemeyer of Lee's Summit, Mo., Paul Niemeyer and wife, Donna, of Lawson, Mo., Philip Niemeyer of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Karen Bruscato and husband, Nicholas John, of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Mary O’Brien of Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jessica VanEpps, Dylan Niemeyer, Carley Bruscato and Claire Bruscato; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Floyd VanEpps and Damon Andrew Niemeyer; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Niemeyer moved from Iowa at a young age and was raised in Blue Springs and attended public schools in Lee's Summit. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He had been employed as an inner city driver for many years, retiring in 1980 from Briggs Truck Line. Francis was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, a former Knights of Columbus, the Elks Lodge and Teamster Local No. 41 of Kansas City. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, working on his hobby farm and, for nearly 15 years, was a crossing guard for Excelsior Springs Schools. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday August 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs. Burial with full military honors will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, with a Rosary Service at 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Uncle Frank will be greatly missed for his Wit and Wisdom. He always brought a smile to our faces. He was the most kind Man and wonderful Friend. We Love You Uncle Frank.
