(Brand) Owens, 73, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011, at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehab Center in Richmond, Mo. Mrs. Owens was born July 11, 1938, in Clay County, Mo., the daughter of Ralph William and Barbara Ellen (Taylor) Brand. Mrs. Owens was a homemaker and had various jobs through out her life. Mary was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include three sons, Buddy Owens, Stephen Owens and his wife, Becky, and Brent Knudson, all of Excelsior Springs; two daughters, Deborah Swope and husband, Ronnie, and Julie Zimmerman and husband, Steve, both of Excelsior Springs; two brothers, Ralph Brand and wife, Sharon, and Rick Brand and wife, Sally, both of Excelsior Springs; one sister, Barbara Ann Schaeffer of Excelsior Springs; and nine grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 1 to 1:30 p.m. with the funeral services starting at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
