Oliver E. Cruey
Oliver Edward Cruey, 74, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Valley Manor and Rehabilitation Center in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Born January 15, 1936 in Goodrich, Kans., he was the son of Oliver Henry and Dora Etta (Voyles) Cruey. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roy Joseph Cruey and Paul Nathan Cruey. Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Ann Jensen of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Cheryl Diane Cruey of Dania, Fla., and Patricia Renae McElwee of Sugar Creek, Mo.; one brother, Carl David Cruey of Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Ellen Rose Melrose of Kansas City, Kans., and Anna Marie Head of Gardner, Kans.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, his extended family and his beloved Boston Terrier, “Booger”. Mr. Cruey was reared in Kansas and received his education in Osawotamie public schools before moving to Missouri where he was employed by Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, Mo., retiring after 30 years with the company. He was a charter member of the Elks Lodge #1001 and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Excelsior Springs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating. He will be missed by his family and friends. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Cremation. A committal service will take place Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Osawotamie Cemetery in Osawotamie, Kans.

I am very sorry for your loss. I thought of your father often and sent him a Christmas card every year. Although I moved away many years ago I always checked to see how ED was doing anytime I came to town, I will forever remember the many fun times we had at the lake.
