Post Phyllis Jean Post, 76, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at her home. Born November 27, 1931 in Carrollton, Mo., she was the daughter of Samuel H. and Ethyl B. (Hawkins) Wright. On February 4, 1955 she was married to Eugene C. Post, her husband of 53 years, who preceded her in death May 14, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Dale Wright, Herbert Wright, Jay Wright and Harold Wright and two sisters, Dorothy Moore and Ruth Wilson. Surviving are her son, Calvin Lee Post and wife, Tara, Kansas City, Mo.; her daughter, Lisa Jean Martinez and husband, Arturo, Rayville, Mo.; and eight grandchildren, Josh, Jason and Brandon Post, Brianna Blackmon and Natasha, Vanessa, Antonio and Jason Martinez. Mrs. Post was raised in Carrollton where she received her education and graduated from Carrollton High School. She lived in Kansas City for a brief time and then in Independence for 16 years before moving to Excelsior Springs in 1977. She had been employed at Sears and also Gene and Calvin's Muffler Shop and was a homemaker. Phyllis attended the Salem Christian Union Church where she was active on the prayer line. The most important things in her life were her family and her church family. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 24, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to the Salem Christian Union Church.
