Witte Verna Sylvia Witte, 77, Richmond, Mo., passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Mo. Verna was born August 20, 1931 in Hardin, Mo., to parents Fred Henry and Dorothea (Barchers) Witte. Verna was a long-time member of the Lexington United Church of Christ, and also loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She is survived by brother Carl and wife, Wilma Witte, Richmond, Mo.; nieces Marcia Scott, Albany, Mo., Carla Witte, Kansas City, Mo.; nephews, David and wife, Arla Witte, Independence, Mo., Duane Witte, Holt, Mo., Scott Witte, Richmond, Mo.; four great nephews and two great nieces. Verna is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Erna Witte and Mabel Witte. Funeral services for Verna will be at 2 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2008 at the Polley Funeral Home in Richmond, Mo. Burial will immediately follow at the Fairhaven Cemetery in Norborne, Mo. She will be lying in state on Sunday, September 7 between noon and 8 p.m. so that friends may sign her register book. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations be made to the Lexington United Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Polley Funeral Home, Richmond, Mo.
